Our Daybed occupies a deservedly distinguished place in the canon of solid Modernist standards and was described by the New York Times covetously as ‘a solitary indulgence’. The BassamFellows Daybed and Daybench have a solid wood frame constructed by expert cabinetmakers, with butter-soft leathers selected from the finest tanneries in Scandinavia.‎ We never treat the leather we use to mask any imperfections – our designs are intended to develop patina over time, like a perfectly tooled piece of bespoke luggage. These pieces are an example of our belief in transparency in our work, and life in our materials.‎Each cushion is hand-sewn from four panels, padded with all-natural down filling for softness, and edge-banded foam for sharpness.‎ In the Daybed design, a separate headrest cushion is detachable, and an oxidized brass back support mechanism adjusts to three different positions.‎ The Daybench Collection includes several options – height-adjusted for different uses, both dining and lounge, and shorter and elongated versions. Each design from the Collection is visually compelling when paired with other furniture – a sturdy but elegant antidote to the uniform landscape of lounge chairs and sofas.
